WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER'S SOCIOECONOMIC BACKGROUND? WHAT IS THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO WEALTH?:
The only daughter to farmers in the small village of Vengerberg, Yennefer's already humble beginnings were further soured by prejudice against her mixed race — she's a quarter elven in world where elves have been systematically eradicated — and her congetial condition, leading to a curved spine and partial paralysis in her face. Many, including her father and peers, demeaned and abused her for it. She was essentially more servant than daughter to her family, cleaning the house and stables, until her father sold her to a travelling sorceress for a handful of coins.
Even after the sorceress becomes her mentor and trains her up at magic school, she still loses out on her dream magical advisor position when her heritage is revealed. This forces her to fight for her magehood without the support of the establishment.
As such, Yen's relationship with class is complicated. For a long time, she was considered less than others, the lowest of the low, and she'll never forget it. After she ascends, however, she becomes more beautiful and powerful than any other in her cohort, gaining a coveted position at court (which still requires her to shovel men's shit, in the end; go figure). Throughout the series, she'll be hunted or judged for what she is, so despite her feigned nonchalance (her coiffed hair and perfect manners), she remains ever aware of her beginnings and how it affects her present status.
Around Saltburnt, none would realise she didn't come from wealth, now seemingly at ease with excess and indulgence after decades in royal and magical politics. She'll play well with the guests and Balfours both — and dress to the nines, of course.

Magic. Or political science, as a former adviser and eventual leader of the mages, etc.
